You connect a non powered or “passive” Subwoofer to your system using the speaker connections you go from the receiver to the subwoofer then from the subwoofer to the main speakers.

    @dumbarse11 The …
@dumbarse11 The output signal on most receivers is not powered so you will need a seperate amp for the subwoofer. You would connect the sub out to the mono in on the amp then connect your woofer to the amp. Make sure the amp is capable of the subs impedence.

  10. kawaiifreak860 says:

    I call it 4.0 …
I call it 4.0 because it’s not surround sound as in diff sounds from diff speakers but as in it has slightly more spacial effect then normal stereo sound.
    lol
Its not true surround because its just stereo surround no 5.1/6.1 or 7.1 surround.

  11. niceguy01 says:

    dx? funny on you …
dx? funny on you not knowing what the digitial coax was and you send it back to the store lol. how is the 4.0? what kind is it?

ah okay lol I thought you set up the DvD player with RCA’s nice though.

I used to have a 5.1 system but When i got the thing I was such a newby I didnt know what the a digitial coax or optical was. and got so dissapointed i sent it all back to the store Dx I still have surround sound but not true surround sound just 4.0 stereo. o.O

  13. niceguy01 says:

    the only thing that …
the only thing that uses optical coax is my dvd player and i can use either an s-video cable or a yellow rca cable to get the video i got the optical coax from the dvd player to my sony home theater system and i use audio rcas from my cable box to the tv in on the back then i got rcas coming from the back of my tv that are in the out audio behinde my tv to the in audio of my theater system so i have to put my theater system on video 1 if i want to hear the sound coming out the tv

  14. kawaiifreak860 says:

    that is completely …
that is completely wrong even if the sound comes from all speakers it is not truly surround sound.
surround requires either optical or a digital coaxial cable. if you use those youll notice much better sound as the sound channels will be more specific

  15. niceguy01 says:

    doesnt take a …
doesnt take a genius to figure out how to put the speakers into your amp and then its easy to plug your other audio stuff into the amp using rca’s. just us the color code to plug them in and make sure there getting plug into the right place on the amp. like dvd,cd,video 1 , video 2 ect
